Back Play from Set Piece - Attack from Scrum

It’s not a matter of going through the strike move repertoire. It is about selecting appropriately from the repertoire according to the opposition and game situation.

Attacking the space between the two teams is paramount and attacking the ball when running support lines will assist the offload and turn defenders.

We now take a look at the attack from the scrum in this example. The ball is taken flat, but space is not attacked and the defense comfortably hold the attack. In this example seen before note again how the decoys attack and hold three Defenders a fly-half receives On The Run round and immediately attacks the space the inside running line of the supporting Wing beats the marker and a try is scored. Again, the fly-half takes the ball moving forward and with a deliberate running line, the defense is disrupted and penetrated from the subsequent phase the attack fix the defense to create space out wide to exploit. You know the attack looks to penetrate but notice how the closing support line attacks the ball and assist the offload and subsequent continuity. From this angle notice how the fly-half creates the space for the inside Center to penetrate the outside Center holds the defense while the fullback slips in behind the tackle line to school. Again, we look at the support lines as the wing comes from outside the marker to inside making the past easier and beating the defender. In this example, the ball carrier looks for the wing to take up the inside line, but the decision is to stay wide and the move breaks down.
