Back Play - Attack From Line Out - Older Youth

To take advantage of the forwards being grouped and to utilize the space this provides, the appropriate strike call needs to be made and space attacked
It’s not a matter of going through the strike move repertoire. It is about specific selection from the repertoire in order to attack identified areas of the opposition and game situations

Attacking the space between the two teams is paramount and attacking the ball when running a support line will assist the offload and turn defenders

In this section, we look at the ability to attack a defense from the line out in this example of under-15 rugby. The fly-half does not attack the space effectively and is drifting across when transferring the ball again the Center passes without engaging the defense if this final pass had been closer to the tackle line the success may have been greater. Run this line out. The fly-half does Engage The Defender and off loads? Well, the running line of the center takes the attack behind the tackle line. Yeah, the inside Center sees an opportunity to get across the game line as a result of the defensive alignment from the subsequent attack. The defense does not react to close down space and the attack take advantage. In this example the attack failed to challenge the defense who take the initiative by pressing up aggressively to make the tackle.
