Geech - Selecting a Lions Squad

Video Subtitles

When you selecting a line Squad, I think you you need to be looking at the sort of combinations from across four countries. So you're looking at a way a player plays what he brings to his game. So and you're trying to divorce that from sometimes what the team is doing and and trying to then way up that that you could have a combination of a type of player from one country that you feel really has possibilities to work alongside a player from another country. They're all good players. You're picking the best from the best. So it really is about what you think each player brings and then how it might work together. There are tactical things. You probably want to bring in for example in 2009. We wanted to be able to look at four words that were powerful but also mobile because of the way we wanted to play we wanted to play. Outside channels and we wanted to put some of the big men in the outside channels, but we wanted to do it with players that were comfortable doing that. So when you're assessing how a player plays you do have things like that in the back of your mind. I think this line selection will look carefully at the front five combination because I think they will see that as an area where they have to keep Australia Under Pressure, but not just stopping Australia plane actually producing really strong Dynamic platforms that can be made by the big men to allow the back row and the backs to then really be playing at PACE on the front foot. So, I think the the front five is key to be able to build those Dynamic platforms.
