In this section, we look at the role of the support players. The rear support takes the majority of the weight while the front player acts primarily as a counter support for the body mass and movement of the jumper above their heads. The jumper should initiate the upward movement with the support players chasing this momentum. It is important to support players use the large muscle groups of quads and glutes as the main thrust the knees hips and arms should extend simultaneously notice how the near side front support player circled has extended the knees and hips but the arms are still in a flex position. It is important for stability that the support players finish the list sequence as close together as possible in this example. Both players are too far apart also notice how both players are holding the jumper around the hip area. This creates a pivot point and the counter swing of the jumpers legs cannot be controlled. The upper body of the support player should ideally be in a vertical position while in the squat this reduces the stress on the back when lifting while the power comes from the quad and gluteus muscle groups in this example the front near side player takes up a good position and it is the back support player who steps to the center line minimizing the amount of movement from the pod.
